Financial Management Taught at West Oso High School
Corpus Christi (KIII News) — Students at West Oso High School are learning how to handle their finances before stepping out into the real world thanks to a new program.

The Banzai program is a free financial literacy program aimed at teaching teens how to make budgets, handle personal checking accounts, and establish credit.
Members First Credit Union and First Community Bank sponsor the Banzai program and also shows how banks and credit unions give back to the community.
“I feel more confident to step out into the real world and more secure of the situations ahead of me. I have learned how to do my car payments, insurance, bills and stuff which is a good thing because I just got a car this year,” senior Victoria Pena said.
“So these kids are aware once they get out of high school they’re already ahead of the game compared to generations before that didn’t know anything about credit,” coach Carlos Lerma said.
According to organizers, more than 40,000 students across the country are participating in the program.
